Oculus announced the Oculus Rift S at the game developers conference in San Francisco in the United States of America. The Oculus Rift S offers users insight tracking (users can now get rid of the base stations, or camera sensors for Room Scale Virtual Reality).
Oculus Rift S improved display resolution
The Oculus Rift S offers 1280 x 1440 per eye display resolution which amounts to a total of 2560 x 1440 display resolution for both screens.
Compared to the 2160 x 1200 resolution on the original Rift, the Oculus Rift S features a new 2560 x 1440 LCD screen. In short this means that the Oculus Rift S offers a much clearer picture than its predecessor and should make the virtual reality experience more immersive than before. They have also worked on the screen door effect and according to Oculus this will be greatly reduced by the new Oculus Rift S display.
